Synopsis by Alice Day

For American sailors on board U.S. naval carriers in the Pacific, the Kamikaze attacks were a source of horror and dread. Japanese pilots, who accepted suicide as part of their war mission, came diving out of the sky in planes fully loaded with bombs. The effectiveness of this strategy is examined in the film, Kamikaze: Death From the Sky. Footage from both Japanese and U.S. archives are utilized to convey the carnage that resulted from these attacks. The U.S. moved swiftly to develop countermeasures to minimize the terrible destruction and devastating loss of lives.
