Like the other productions in the Just the Facts: World War II series, the events and decisions documented are based on actual events and statistics, and claim not to have a rose-colored or otherwise biased version of history. In Minority Units -- Profiles of Courage and Sacrifice, the focus revolves around the contributions and sacrifices made by American minority military units. Some of the featured units include the Tuskegee Airmen, the 92nd Infantry, the Red Ball Express, the 442nd Combat Division, and the Navajo Code Talkers, among others. The program also highlights Dorie Miller, and African-American naval hero of Pearl Harbor, as well as Ira Hayes, the American Indian who helped raise the flag at Iwo Jima, and offers insight on the legacy of patriotism left by minorities who served their country in the face of racial discrimination.
