Although Captain Drake (Oliver Blake) appeared to have been stabbed to death by Dr. Elise Bork (Tala Birell) in chapter seven of Jungle Queen, chapter eight reveals that he lived long enough to warn Bob Elliott (Edward Norris) about the trip-wire. Chuck (Eddie Quillan) and Pamela (Lois Collier) are released from their confinement, but Bob's snooping leads him into yet another trap, this one set by Tambosa Tim (Cy Kendall), a fat saloon owner working for Lang (Douglass Dumbrille) and Miss Bork (Tala Birell). At Lang's hideout, an abandoned mine, Bob is reunited with Pamela, who was snatched right after leaving the Silver Star. Back in town, Chuck browbeats Tambosa Tim into revealing the whereabouts of the hostages but Bork has counted on just such an emergency and, wearing a becoming crash helmet, fires off a mortar bomb that seems to hit its target, the mine containing Bob and Pamela.
