Synopsis by Sally Barber

Journey Into India is a ten-volume travel series highlighting the rich culture, history, and traditions of India. Footage comes from across the subcontinent and reflects an intimate knowledge of this corner of the world. Part one, Jaipur, explores this stunning city founded in 1727 by astronomer king Sawai Jai Singh. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City, called so for the colors used in its buildings, which were meant to replicate the look of the red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities. The tour looks at this famous city's old fortresses and magnificent palaces. Other programs in the series include In the Footsteps of the Danniels, Cochin, Simla, Hindi Movies, Kipling's India, The Ganges, The Moghul Emperors, The Indian Army, and The Kulu Valley.
