Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Shunya Ito directed this unusual women's prison film which spawned three direct sequels and a pair of spin-offs. Actress-singer Meiko Kaji, best-known for the "Alleycat Rock" series beginning with Naraneko Rokku: Onna Bancho (1970), stars as Nami, who escapes a prison with her friend Yukiko (Hiroko Ooji). The authorities chase them down and take them to a maximum-security facility where they are tortured severely. While in solitary confinement, Nami remembers her attempted murder of a corrupt vice officer boyfriend on the take. Angered, Nami becomes the vengeful Scorpion, kicking off the series which continued with Joshu Sasori Dai 41 Zakkyobou (1972). Kaji sang the theme song, which went gold in Japan.
