Synopsis by Jinko Labitag
Believing that God has given her the mission to save France from invading forces, 17-year-old Joan (Lise Leplat Prudhomme) is able to convince France’s would-be king, Charles (Fabrice Luchini), to let her lead an army to the besieged city of Orléans. When the campaign miraculously succeeds, she becomes a recognized figure in the country, much to Charles’s dismay. She, however, is captured by enemy forces when her army is defeated in their next undertaking. She is then put to trial for several charges. The movie, which is based on Charles Peguy’s play, is written and directed by Bruno Dumont.
