Synopsis by Mark Deming
A master of both the trumpet and the flügelhorn, Art Farmer as a strong adherent of the more subtle end of the bebop style, and while his allegiance to a fading form made him seem like an anomaly in the 1960s, he became celebrated as one of the last true masters of bop late in his career. Jazz Masters Series: Art Farmer is a documentary which offers a look at Farmer's life and career, featuring rare footage of the musician in concert, shot during special presentations for the Smithsonian Institution in 1981 and 1982.
