Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Filmed in 1947, this Swedish comedy was released outside Scandinavia the following year as The Adventures of Janne Wangman. Adolf Jahr stars as the title character, who during the course of the film's 84 minutes undergoes all manner of mishaps and crises. The script is adapted from several popular novels by J. R. Sundstrom, which may explain the anecdotal, start-and-stop nature of the storyline. No matter what misfortunes befall him, Janne Wangman always manages to brush himself off and start all over again -- suggesting perhaps that a sequel is in the offing. American reviewers weren't as impressed by the film itself as they were by the direction and cinematography.
