This drama is very loosely based on the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Alecos (Angelos Theodropoulos) returns to Athens after the drowning death of his wealthy industrialist father. He feigns madness in an attempt to trap his stepfather and former business partner Guerolymos (Guicas Biniaris). Alecos hopes he will be able to get the man to admit he took part in events that led to his father's death. When the will is read, Alecos is surprised to learn that he is the only heir to his family fortune and that his stepfather is an honest man.
