Synopsis by Cara Saposnik
In this gracefully crafted documentary, the life and art of an extraordinary personality is engagingly portrayed. This video interweaves re-creations of Isadora Duncan's dances with her own essays to tell the story of a unique artist. Duncan is considered the "mother of modern dance." She was able to defy Victorian mores both in her art and her life, and she helped elevate dance from vaudeville to a form of modern art. Narrated by Julie Harris, this documentary shows how the power of dance can express the plight of the underserved and lift the human spirit.
