Synopsis by Cara Saposnik
The difficult ethical questions surrounding the issue of sustaining the life of a severly damaged person are examined in this provocative documentary. By focusing on three families and their stories, this video's questions about choices and who makes them are brought to the forefront. One family is emotionally and finacially drained after years of caring for their 12-year-old who was saved at birth, despite the family's wishes at the time. On the opposite side of the spectrum is a family who will not give up on their ex-marine son, who is brain-damaged. The reluctance of individuals and society as a whole to address these wrenching issues is at the core of this film.
