The time is the later years of the Ming dynasty, and as a lion dance competition sets off a troubling wave of gambling the conflict that erupts threatens to pit brother against brother in this period adventure loaded with spectacular kung-fu fighting. As gambling fever sweeps the land, conflict between participating teams reaches a fever pitch. When it's revealed that the sponsor of the competition, a millionaire named Xu, is actually a gambling ringleader, an already complicated situation begins to spiral out of control. When Xu's daughter Rong falls in love with team member Ji Zhi, the fate of all three is sealed as Ji Zhi sets out to avenge his brother's untimely death.
