Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Because it was seen over the CBC from July 11, 1961 through August 18, 1971, the long-running public affairs series Intertel is often listed as exclusively a Canadian program. In truth, this was a wide-ranging project, assembled by the International Television Federation, consisting of not only the CBC but also America's National Education Television (the forerunner of PBS) and Westinghouse Broadcasting, Britain's Associated Rediffusion and the Australian Broadcasting Commission. Shown irregularly in all of these countries (usually once per month), the series consisted of incisive documentaries on world affairs. Most of the Canadian contributions to Intertel were produced by Vincent Torvell, and ran anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes per episode.
