Synopsis by Sally Barber
Inside the Soviet Union is a series of documentary films depicting the country's history, culture, and politics. The first volume of the series, Inside the Soviet Union: Nazi War Crimes -- Babi Yar, examines the atrocities committed against Ukrainian Jews at Babi Yar, a ravine near Kiev, capital of the Ukraine. Based on authentic Nazi films, the program recounts the mass murders of Jews and non-Jews beginning September 28, 1941. Altogether, 100,000 people were exterminated at the site. Moving commentary from survivors tells the horrors of this dark side of the Soviet Union's history.
