In the early '70s, director Jonathan Lucas crafted three pulpy police procedural short films, which, taken as a whole, aimed to show the part that paid informants play in fighting crime. In Informers I, a recently divorced woman calls the Los Angeles police to report her precious chess set missing and the cops turn to small-time thief Gabby (Al Dennis) to find out who could have taken it.
