African-American author and commentator Haskell Ward hosts this second video in a series that features the history of black Americans. This installment examines what it was like to be a college student in the '50s and '60s at historically all-black colleges and universities. Schools covered include Clark, Morehouse (all male), Spelman, Atlanta University, and Morris Brown. Highlights include an introduction by the late Arthur Ashe, archival footage, and a video profile of prominent civil rights activist Vernon Jordan Jr.. Jordan, an advisor to President Jimmy Carter, served as president of the National Urban League and was executive director of the United Negro College Fund. Ward is the author of African Development Reconsidered: New Perspectives From the Continent.
