Synopsis by Steve Blackburn
In 1983, Sister Falaka Fattah, David Fattah, and their Philadelphian House of Umoja successfully managed to end "Wolf Pack" random acts of violence by roaming teenagers. This fifth program in a six-part series narrated by African-American author and commentator Haskell Ward tackles major urban problems that confront African-Americans in the U.S., including economic disparity, which leads to inner-city violent crime. Ward and producer/director Robert E. Frye call on various grassroots community leaders, including the Fattahs, to offer their take on the issues and possible solutions. Highlights include an introduction by the late Arthur Ashe. Ward is the author of African Development Reconsidered: New Perspectives From the Continent.
