Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar
Part of the In Search Of series, this documentary takes a close look at the controversy and mystery behind the famed Dead Sea Scrolls. Narrated by series host Leonard Nimoy, this video tells the story and the history behind the scrolls, which are manuscripts made of leather, papyrus, and copper, that allow historians and religious scholars to learn more about the beginnings of Christianity and Judaism. These discoveries allowed historians to confirm or disprove certain aspects about the Old Testament of the Bible. Also explored in this video is how these historical and biblical relics were discovered in desert caves throughout the 20th century. Eventually almost all the Scrolls were found and put together for the first time since they were lost thousands of years ago.
