Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Evelyn Brent stars in this silent crook melodrama as Judith Gilbert, a young girl attempting to recover a valuable family jewel. Earmarked by Judith's brother Dick (Carroll Nye as security for a loan, the diamond was stolen by Morris (Carlton Griffin). Desperate to recover the gem, Judith infiltrates the underworld in the guise of Canada Nell. Morris, who has fallen in love with the girl, introduces her to his boss, the master criminal De Mornoff (Frank Leigh), but instead of doing De Mornoff's bidding, Judith, in tandem with a handsome investigator (James Morrison), manages to return the jewel in time for brother Dick to pay his gambling debt. The sultry Evelyn Brent, soon to become a major star under the direction of Josef Von Sternberg, paid her dues appearing in scores of low-budget melodramas such as The Imposter.
