The Teatro Real in Madrid mounted this April 2009 production of Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi's 1639 dramma in musica Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria (The Return of Ulysses to His Homeland). Featuring the baroque musical ensemble Les Arts Florissants (conducted by its founder, William Christie), it stars Koble van Rensburg as Ulisse, Christine Rice as Penelope, Cyril Auvity as Telemaco and Joseph Cornwell as Eumete. Roberto Maria Pizzuto choreographed, while Pier Luigi Pizzi directs for the stage and designed the sets and costumes.
