Synopsis by Dan Pavlides

This plodding religious drama takes the viewpoint that Judas Iscariot (Gorgio Algranti) was justified in betraying the Nazarene (Carlo Bachi). Opening with the kiss of betrayal, Judas is seen later reading the scriptures to point out that the death and resurrection of Jesus was a foregone conclusion of inevitable prophecy. Judas alone knew that the Nazarene must be betrayed in order for his death and resurrection to save the human race. He philosophizes that Christ had to be put to death to meet the conditions of the prophecy. Other characters include Mary Magdalene (Marina Barsotti), Nicodemus (Gorgio Algranti), Simon Peter (Pio Cianelli), and John (Nicola Checchi).
