Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Igdenbu is, from all appearances, the American release version of the Soviet film previously distributed in England and Europe as Law of the Siberian Taiga. A family of Mongolian Tungu tribesmen is victimized by a band of Chinese fur smugglers. One of the Tungus is hoodwinked into taking the blame for crimes perpetrated by the Chinese. During his trial, he is saved at the last moment by the humanitarian intervention of a Bolshevist magistrate. Evidently, the original film was heavily re-edited and rearranged before its American debut; this revisionism extends to the English subtitles, which were originally composed by British documentarian Ivor Montagu, but were herein rewritten by Shelley Hamilton.
