Synopsis by Betsy Boyd
Another installment in historian and choreographer Carol Teten's celebrated video series on the history of dance, How to Dance Through Time, Volume III: The Majesty of Renaissance Dance transports viewers to the dance arenas of the Renaissance period. Teten discusses the Italian court dance suite and features a performance of the complex dance "The Nido D'Amore" ("The Nest of Love"), which begins with a masculine routine "The Galliard," then progresses to a dual dance expression of love and lust in "The Saltarello," closing with an exuberant solo dance, "The Canary."
