Synopsis by Mark Deming
The animated Hot Wheels television show makes the step up to feature-length status in this made-for-TV movie. Surger turned racing driver Vert Wheeler (voice of Andrew Francis) is invited to join a team of world-class speed demons as they compete in a very unusual competition. Vert and his colleagues are sent by the mysterious Dr. Tezla to race through an alternate dimension where the winner will gain the Wheel of Power, the most potent energy source in the Universe. But the no-holds-barred competition turns teaches Vert and his fellow racers some valuable lessons about working together. Hot Wheels: World Race also features new music from the pop group Smash Mouth.
