Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Holly Dale and Janis Cole, the Canadian filmmaking team responsible for such penetrating documentaries as The Thin Blue Line (1977 version) and P4W: Prison for Women, were the creative forces behind the 1984 feature Hookers on Davie Street. The eponymous street, located in Vancouver, British Columbia, is "home" for hundreds of prostitutes. Astonishingly, most of these girls are independent operators. There's nary a pimp in sight, nor are there any out of sight. Hookers on Davie Street incorporates two of Dale and Cole's favorite subjects: people living on the fringes of society, and independent-spirited women.
