Synopsis by Hal Erickson
This four-part miniseries consisted of hour-long documentaries about the Canadian film industry. The program covered such aspects of cinema as animation, the independent-film movement, and the experimental efforts subsidized by the National Film Board of Canada. The final episode offered an overall history of Canadian movies, including newsreels, highlights from past feature-film classics, and wartime propaganda (some of it produced by no less than Walt Disney). Created by Rosalind Farber, with the assistance and input of Globe and Mail film critic Wendy Michener, Home Movies: The Great Canadian Film Caper aired from August 17 to September 7, 1966.
