Polly Holliday of Alice and Flo fame guest stars as Jill's mother, Lillian, aka "Nana." Tim (Tim Allen) senses that there are issues that separate Jill (Patricia Richardson) from her mother -- especially when Nana presents Jill with a precious family heirloom that isn't the one her daughter really wants. In his efforts to find out the reasons behind the lack of communication between his wife and her mom, he succeeds only in convincing Nana that Jill and Tim's marriage is in trouble.
