Synopsis by Steve Blackburn

A number of the all-time great musical feature films were produced in the 1950s, and this video highlights them. In addition to interviews with musical stars such as Shirley Jones of Oklahoma! (1955), Debbie Reynolds from Singin' in the Rain (1952), and Ann Miller of Kiss Me Kate (1953), this program features sequences from those films and other classic musicals, including An American in Paris (1951), Showboat (1951), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), Damn Yankees (1958), and others.
