Synopsis by Farida Ezzat
The documentary tells the story of the longest hostage siege in New York Police Department history. In 1973, Shu’haib Raheem was one of four men who attempted to rob a store in Brooklyn. When the cops arrived, they mistakenly assumed Raheem and his friends were part of the police-targeting Black Liberation Army. What ensued was a standoff that ended with a dead officer. The incident involved police psychologist Harvey Schlossberg whose radical peaceful approach ended the siege by relying on verbal communication rather than gun violence.
