Synopsis by Betsy Boyd

Part of the History's Turning Points II video series, which explores pivotal moments in world history, History's Turning Points II: Television Explosion describes the introduction of commercial television into America's everyday life. In 1939, David Sarnoff, a radio enthusiast and struggling Russian immigrant, attended the World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, NY, where he demonstrated the function of commercial television. After that fateful day, the world embraced TV, a new form of communication and a new way of life. The program features on-location dramatizations and rare historical footage.
