Synopsis by Betsy Boyd
Part of the History's Turning Points II video series, which explores pivotal moments in world history, History's Turning Points II: Search for Troy investigates the life of Heinrich Schliemann, the son of a German grocer who grew up to become an important archaeologist. After uncovering a gold fortune in the fields of California, Schliemann ventured on an archaeological dig at Hissarlik in modern Turkey, intent on finding proof of mythic Troy. In 1873, Schliemann discovered an indisputable link to the actual city of Troy, the setting of Homer's epic Iliad. The program features on-location dramatizations and rare historical footage.
