Part of the History's Turning Points II video series, which explores pivotal moments in world history, History's Turning Points II: Napoleon Invades Russia focuses on Napoleon's botched attempt to defeat Alexander I, Tsar of Russia, and control Europe from his royal perch in France. After capturing Moscow, Russia's capital, Napoleon lost hundreds of thousands of men to starvation, cold, and poor planning. Following the soldiers' mass deaths, the emperor's grand plan was a bust. The program features on-location dramatizations and rare historical footage.
