Part of the History's Ancient Legacies video series, which revisits the world's lost cities and forgotten landmarks to examine history firsthand, History's Ancient Legacies: Pompeii travels to Pompeii to investigate ancient art and architectural structures. In 79 A.D., Mount Vesuvius erupted, covering the city of Pompeii in wet ash. As a result, many ancient pieces were perfectly preserved. The video features scholarly commentary and present-day location footage. Three-dimensional animation sequences depict specific landmarks in their prime and attempt to convey the ancient world's atmosphere.
