Synopsis by Sarah Ing
Award-winning filmmaker Rea Tajiri takes on the American interment of Japanese citizens in her short, but personal documentary. While exploring her own family history, Tajiri stumbled upon a common story, one of prejudice and separation. Contrasting her real-life memories with those of Hollywood's propaganda machine, she presents a picture of what life must have been like for people like her. From a father that served at Pearl Harbor to a homestead that was blatantly deconstructed, Tajiri gives a wide look at the wartime treatment of the Japanese-American.
