Synopsis by Janiss Garza
After his father dies amidst rumors that he was an oil swindler, Matthew Denton (Charles Ray) goes to Texas to discover the truth. But he has been spoiled by his mother (Gertrude Claire) and he has a hard time adjusting to his rough surroundings. He does manage to discover that the superintendent, Banty Jones (Billy Elmer), is tapping the main pipe line, thus shorting the stockholders. However, Matthew is too timid to do anything about this until Banty insults his sweetheart, Mabel Glenny (Doris Lee). Then Matthew's latent fighting abilities emerge and he vanquishes the villain. This picture was based on the Rupert Hughes story When Life Is Marked Down, and was typical of Charles Ray's vehicles during this period.
