Synopsis by Mark Deming
The hit television series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys first introduced the character of Xena, the Warrior Princess (Lucy Lawless), whose popularity led her to star in her own popular TV show. In "Warrior Princess," Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) finds that he and his sidekick, Iolaus (Michael Hurst), are in hot water when Iolaus succumbs to the charms of the beautiful but dangerous female warrior, Xena. Xena attempts to turn Iolaus against Hercules and win his power for herself, but Hercules soon realizes that something is afoot. "The Gauntlet" finds Xena losing favor with the warlord Darphus (Matthew Chamberlain) for refusing to kill innocent women and children. When Hercules faces off against Darphus's legions, he discovers that Xena no longer wishes to be aligned with him and tries to recruit her for his army. And in "Unchained Heart," Xena conquers her evil side and joins forces with Hercules to fight Darphus. In the wake of their victory, Hercules and Xena begin to fall in love, but will she join forces with him (both romantically and militarily) on a long-term basis?
