Herbert Von Karajan, the musical director and conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic from 1956 until his passing in 1989, was one of the 20th century's truly great figures in classical music, and this video presents him leading the orchestra in a 1982 performance of two of Beethoven's major works: Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60, and Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67. Herbert Von Karajan -- His Legacy for Home Video: Beethoven Symphonies Nos. 4 & 5 features audio recorded in digital stereo, and was one of the few Von Karajan performances recorded in the digital format.
