Synopsis by Mark Deming
A woman's bad dreams may be a gate into the supernatural and a parallel to real-life violence in this supernatural horror story from Korea. Haerim is a woman who has been suffering from a series of vivid and disturbing nightmares. Frightened by her bad dreams, Haerim consults a psychiatrist, who believes hypnotic therapy may be the answer. After putting Haerim into a trance, the doctor makes the shocking discovery that she was brutally raped as a child, and in her dreams she violently attacks the men responsible for her violation. However, Haerim's violent dreams mirror a series of real-life killings plaguing the city, and the psychiatrist begins to suspect that there could be a link, which ties in with the goddess Hera, a mythical goddess who avenged herself against the men who destroyed her. Herepurple: Devil Goddess stars Kim Chung, Lee Se-Chang, and Lee Ho-Sung.
