Peggy Hyland stars in this mediocre Vitagraph offering. Her character, Polly Biggs is the eldest of a brood of orphaned children. They are taken in by their Uncle, Mayor Hoadley (John Robertson), but the only reason he has done this is to look good for election year. In reality, he couldn't care less about the children and his ill-tempered wife saddles Polly with endless chores. One day, Polly takes the children fishing and meets John Oxmore (Antonio Moreno), the son of the opposing mayoral candidate. Back at home, she discovers that Hoadley intends to send all the kids to the poorhouse as soon as the election is over. Instead of waiting for this inevitability, she immediately takes them there herself. The mayor, frightened of what the voters might think, goes to retrieve them, but when Polly sees his car, she and the children sneak out of the poorhouse and find an unoccupied cabin in the woods where they settle in. It turns out that John Oxmore is its owner, and he finds them there. He permits them to stay but the next day he is accused of a murder committed by Hoadley. John was at the cabin when the crime was committed but he says nothing because he doesn't want to compromise Polly. Just when things look really bad for John, Polly hears about his trouble and rushes to the courthouse to save him.
