Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Vaudeville monologist Hale Hamilton starred in the Keystone two-reel comedy Her Painted Hero. Hamilton plays a ham actor in a third-rate stock company, while Polly Moran steals the picture as the sweetheart of the troupe's gangly prop man (Slim Summerville). Marching to the altar with Summerville, Moran is suddenly love-struck by wedding guest Hamilton, whereupon she deserts her fiance and embarks upon a stage career. The rest of the film is a travesty of a "serious" stage melodrama, where everything goes wrong thanks to Summerville's jealous sabotage. Apparently, the scenario for Her Painted Hero was based on a vaudeville sketch featuring the long-forgotten team of Murphy and Nichols.
