Mrs. Kent (Edythe Chapman) is an ambitious woman who wants to see her daughter, Geraldine (Anita King), make a good marriage. So Geraldine lands a miner, Joe Lacy (Thomas Meighan). Although she has married for money, Geraldine discovers that she really does love her husband. Mrs. Kent, however, is the mother-in-law from hell, and tries to force her socially-inclined attitudes on Joe. But he only takes it for so long before he makes it known that he, and he alone, is in charge of his household. This picture, like many of its era, was based on a stage play.
