Introduce the timeless tale of Heidi to a whole new generation of viewers with this animated take on the classic tale from filmmaker Toshiyuki Hiruma Takashi. Life is good for young Heidi, but when her aunt informs the carefree young girl that she must move away from her grandfather and the home they share in the mountains to live with a city-dwelling family whose crippled daughter needs companionship, her future doesn't seem so sunny. Stuck in the city under the rule of stern governess Madame Rottenmeier, homesick Heidi dreams of being back in the country wither her kindly grandfather and good friend Peter. When Heidi returns to her grandfather's home with her new friend Klara for a brief visit, she helps the stricken young girl to learn to walk again and things once again start looking up for the former country girl and her newly healed friend.
