Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Richard Archer stars in Jeremy Major's low-budget, direct-to-video inspirational drama Heartland Son. Archer plays Charlie "Champ" Hannen, a bruised, shattered, and spiritually isolated man teetering on the verge of suicide, and forced into the mode of self-reassessment and recovery by the death of his father (Stephen G. Black). Hannen -- a onetime star quarterback in high school, with a bright future before him -- slid downhill as a young man, into a whirlpool of booze, drugs, empty affairs, and a contentious father-son relationship. Now, saddled with a married girlfriend, Jaime, and a farm inherited from his dad, Hannen stands at a crossroads and ponders his options -- torn between staying on the property as caretaker of the land, absconding with Jaime, and selling the family property to an oil prospector for an exorbitant amount of money. The picture co-stars Jaime Luchuck, Paul McGrath, Matthew David Lupal, Stephen G. Black, and Claudette Brundage; Archer penned the script.
