In this four-reel society soap opera, Kate Merry (June Daye) weds the worthless Will Cairns (Francis Joyner), but she realizes her mistake and leaves him. She goes to work in a department store, where she meets pretty society girl Marion Nelson (Helen Greene). The two young women become friends and Kate moves into Marion's home. Philip Nelson (Arthur Forbes), Marion's brother, falls in love with Kate. But Kate's husband has used his slick ways to move into society and is courting Marion. To ruin Kate's credibility, Cairns tells Philip she is not to be trusted, and when Kate tries to tell Marion of Cain's true nature, she doesn't believe her. To prove she is right, Kate invites Cairn to see her and has Marion hide in the room and watch. Cairns bestial nature is revealed just as Philip walks in. He thinks Kate is a willing partner and denounces her. But Marion sends Cairns packing and to fixes things between Kate and her brother.
