Vietnamese filmmaker Phi Tien Son writes and directs the meager-budgeted Vao Nam Ra Bac (the official English title is Heading South, Going North). In Ho Chi Minh City, a man notices a waitress in a nightclub. He believes she is the little girl he helped in the past, when he deserted the army. Starring Le Hong Quang and Vu Phuong Thanh, Heading South, Going North was shown at the 2001 Berlin Film Festival.
