Paladin (Richard Boone) is one of four travellers who witness a man falling down a ravine and being trapped on a ledge by a landslide. It is highly likely that the man died in the fall, but there is also the likelihood that he is still alive. Paladin is all for making the perilous downward climb to check on the man's fate, but he is unable to do so without the help of his four diverse companions--all of whom, for various reasons, are reluctant to even attempt the climb.
