Director Elijah Moshinsky helmed this revisionist staging (by the Australian Opera company) of Englebert Humperdinck's operatic adaptation of the beloved fairy tale. This production adds a charming wit and willfully surreal edge to the Brothers Grimm's classic take of two poor children lost in the woods who encounter a mysterious house made of candy. The cast includes Christine Douglas, Suzanne Johnston, and Malcolm Donnelly.
