Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

Two of George Frederic Handel's most popular works are brought to life in a pair of 2005 performances staged at St. Anne's Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and offering the first-ever recording of "Music for the Royal Flutes" to include the transverse flute as indicated in Handel's original manuscript. Composed respectively for a pair of royal water parties on the river Thames that took place in 1715 and 1717, and to celebrate the 1949 Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle, "Water Music" and "Music for the Royal Fireworks" are performed by the Arcadia Ensemble under the leadership of conductor Kevin Mallon.
