Synopsis by Hal Erickson

It took two directors to bring this adaptation of Lajos Zilahy's novel Deadly Spring to the screen-and one of those directors was Zilahy himself. Paul Javor plays Istvan Egry, in love with socialite Edith (Catherine Karady). When Edith is forced into an engagement with a member of her own social set, Istvan goes into a deep blue-danube funk. Losing himself in the nether world of saloons and gambling dens, our hero is saved by faithful Josie (Eva Szorenji), who remains at his side despite all the abuse he heaps upon her. But Istvan never does become satisfied with his lot in life, resulting in an abruptly tragic finale.
