Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Also known as Garu, the Mad Monk, this baroque horror effort was filmed in, of all places, Saint Peter's Church in the heart of New York City. Neil Flanagan plays the title character, a chaplain at a prison colony. Abusing his power to the utmost, Flanagan wields a supernatural hold over the unfortunate prisoners. When he's not busy dispatching his slaves to go grave robbing, the Mad Monk is commiserating with his AC-DC mistress and an assortment of ghoulies, ghosties and long-legged beasties. Producer-director-writer Andy Milligan based his screenplay on a short story by M.A. Isaacs.
